Empowering through Chess
Founded over a decade ago, Lyon Olympique Échecs began as a grassroots initiative aimed at introducing chess to individuals in need, paving the way for greater cognitive and social engagement.

We have successfully served diverse clients, including students in schools, residents in retirement homes, incarcerated individuals, patients in hospitals, and members of specialized centers, enhancing their lives through chess.
Lyon Olympique Échecs has received recognition for its contributions to community engagement and intellectual promotion, further solidifying its position as a leader in chess advocacy.
Jean Dupont, an avid chess enthusiast and educator, founded Lyon Olympique Échecs with a vision to make chess accessible to all. His passion for the game drives our mission.
Starting with small local workshops, Jean aimed to introduce the strategic and social benefits of chess, gradually expanding the organization’s reach across Lyon.
